Here is a lovely ring, which could have graced the finger of a lady on the Titanic, or on the set of Downton Abbey or The Great Gatsby. It is marked “925” for sterling silver, and set with a pretty ruby. It’s a size 6, and with the mellow patina of age. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully, as we are not responsible for buyer remorse. Shipping, handling & insurance within the USA included.

Here is a coral garland necklace consisting of 8 coral drops (Coral was believed to prevent bad luck, and to be an aid to meditation), of graduated lengths and sizes, and a final drop on a draping chain. The three longest drops are on rigid bars. The coral is a lovely deep dark ox-blood red, very hard to capture in photos. The entire chain length is 15-1/4”, and the decorated portion is 4-1/4” x 2-1/8” at the longest point...

This striking Jugendstil or Arts & Crafts pendant is enameled in white and purple. Made from 900 silver (slightly less silver than sterling), and centered by a lovely oval amethyst which is flanked above and below by tiny seed pearls. There is a pearl dangle (which I added, as the original was missing) below an arc of textured metal. It measures 1-1/2” x 7/8” and weighs 4.7g...

This pendant is enameled in two shades of blue, with a pearl dangle. The front is composed of 3 panels of enamel. The outer ones are in the shape of sweet stylized hearts, in dark blue. The center is a lighter color, and the back is a lovely sky blue. Overall it is in very good condition, though the enamel on the back shows a small amount of wear on the high points. It measures 2” from the top of the bail to the bottom of the pearl. Unmarked. C. 1900...

This locket is made of carved silver, with plenty of space for a monogram, should you wish. It measures 1-1/4” (without the decorative bale) by 1” wide. The bale adds a further ¼”. Stamped 925, it weighs .30oz or 8.4g, and has an age-appropriate patina. The 30” box chain is marked 925 and Italy, and weighs a further 9.0g or .31 oz. It has been well loved, and the new owner might want to have it buffed up a bit. It closes firmly...

Here is a ring made from an Unger cuff link, with a clear maker’s mark. The decoration is a flower, possibly a poppy, and vine tendrils curling down the sides – really pretty. The cuff link portion is 13/16ths” x ½”, and the band ¼” wide. It is a size 6-1/2. In excellent antique condition with an age-appropriate patina. Note that there are camera reflections and other streaky reflections in some of the photos...

According to some, this is St. Catherine, patroness of young maidens and female scholars. There is a (“Catherine”) wheel in the background, and a flower in the foreground. Her clothing looks very Renaissance to us. Marked “SILVER” on the C-clasp, with an illegible maker’s mark, the metal tests 90-100% silver, and she’s a dainty 7/8” in diameter. 2.5g. In excellent condition, and circa 1850...

Here is a brooch with an ancient Celtic design – two birds with enameled wings, bodies and eyes, with interlaced silver above and below. The enamel is in green, blue, white, and red. It is marked 925 for sterling silver, and has several other marks which are illegible. 1-1/2” X 1-1/4”. There are a couple places where the enamel isn’t perfect – please see photos...

Here is an intriguing cigarette case with niello enamel. It has a flower motif on both sides, and a blank space for a monogram on one side. It is marked (and tests as) sterling silver. The piece measures 3-7/8 x 2-15/16”, and weighs in at 4.92 ounces. In excellent condition, though since the elastic is in such good condition, it may be a replacement. We believe this case is pre-1920, but would welcome other opinions. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully, as we ...

This lovely item is a navette-shaped pin from the Arts & Crafts era. It measures 2-1/4 x 3/8”. It has a leaf and berries design, centered by a blister pearl of an intriguing shape. It is marked STERLING, and the pin-stem assembly is original. I have not cleaned it, so it has a nice patina and a little bit of tarnish. In excellent condition, and circa 1900. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully, as we are not responsible for buyer remorse. Thanks! Shipping, handlin...

This is so sparkly and pretty! Jane Austen, or one of her characters such as Lizzie Bennet could have worn this. Made from silver (tested), with a base metal pin stem, and set with paste stones, it is in the form of a graceful lyre surmounted by a crescent moon. Lyres come out of ancient Greece, and were said to represent the underlying harmony of the universe (wow!). Crescent moons have represented the feminine principle and intuitive, psychic energy. It measures 2-3/16” x ¾”, with a very...

This silver coin bracelet made it out of Russia during the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, when our heroine, Helen Aman, escaped with her family. She was a well-to-do bride, who hid her jewelry in her doctor father-in-law’s medical equipment when they made their escape! (The silver bell pin which we have listed on Trocadero was also hers.) The bracelet consists of 24 coins, dating from 1893 – 1910, but most of them are from 1905. The wearable length is 7-1/8”, and it weighs .93 oz, or 26.3 ...

This charming brooch is very pretty and wearable. Plique a jour jewels are very hard to come by these days – they are somewhat fragile, rare, and I believe that many of them are now in private collections. This lovely maple leaf pin seems to be missing one leaf. The space has been filled with a drop made of green agate, so the loss is hardly noticeable. Along the main vein of each leaf and the stem are paste accent stones, and it is centered by a faux pearl. The plique itself is in good shape,...

Here is a nicely realized pin showing a pheasant sitting amongst flowers and ferns. Pretty! It has a loop so it can also be worn as a necklace. Measuring 2-1/8” x 1", and weighing 7.8g or .28oz., it is in excellent condition. It is stamped “sterling” and has unknown makers marks. Circa 1950s. Here is a very pretty brooch from the Arts & Crafts/Art Nouveau era. It features an oval purple cabochon, possibly glass, centered between two hammered leaves (very A&C), all on a very Art Nouveau framework. Marked “DEPOS” (probably meant to say “DEPOSE”), it is most likely from Germany. There are two illegible marks, one on the C-clasp, and one on the back. It tests as silver, measures 1-3/4” x 3/4", and weighs 4.4 g. The surface of the cabochon is somewhat abraded, and the silver sh...

This striking pin is composed of 2 beautifully engraved silver circles intertwined with an oval, and set with ovals of agate of various colors. Agates have been used in jewelry going back into antiquity. They were thought to ward against storms and headaches, attract strength, and to affect dreaming. Queen Victoria became enamored of Scotland during her reign, so everything Scottish became popular during that period (except, perhaps, haggis!), especially post 1848 when she bought Balmoral Castle...

Weird but wonderful, and SO Victorian! Here is a grooming chatelaine from sometime in the 1800s – very hard to put a more specific age to this. It has a Chinese fish motif at the top, and dangling from that are 3 implements, a tweezers, an ear-cleaning device, and a third implement for cleaning nails. (We just saw a similar chatelaine on eBay that was advertised as a device for opium users.) It tests positive for silver, but is unmarked and with a patina consistent with age. It is lacking a be...

The mix of metals makes this sash buckle quite unusual in my experience. The silver plate shows some wear - yellow metal shows through at some of the high points. We believe the gold to be about 9kt, and it’s also a plating or overlay. The buckle measures 3 x 2-1/2" and weighs in at 47.5 grams. Unmarked. In overall very good condition, except for the few worn spots already mentioned; the gold might be a little worn in a few places too – it’s difficult to tell because of the texturing. Circ...
