Irises symbolize faith, hope, wisdom and courage – and they were named after the Greek messenger of the Gods! This stickpin depicts a beautifully detailed iris, centered by a tiny single cut diamond. Unmarked, but tests as 10k gold. It measures 2-1/2" long, the iris is 7/8” x ½”, and it weighs 1.1g. In excellent condition and circa 1900. Here is a young lady, nicely realized in 14k (marked and tested) yellow gold. She is shown in profile against a textured oval background. Her hair curls around at the base of the oval, and her bangs are in slight disarray – sweet! She measures ½” x 3/8”, with an overall length of 2-1/4”. 1.4 g. She could be cleaned up a bit – we leave that to the new owner to decide. Circa 1900 and in excellent condition...

Here is a stickpin featuring a yummy burnt-orange colored oval carnelian, set in 10kt gold and surrounded by an oval of gold set with 4 seed pearls. It is marked 10kt. The setting measures 13/16” x 1/2", and the whole thing 2-3/8". The pin has a bit of a bend to it toward the top, otherwise in excellent antique condition. Most likely Victorian or Edwardian. Please take care in reading this description and looking at the photos, as we are not responsible for buyer remorse...

The mix of metals makes this sash buckle quite unusual in my experience. The silver plate shows some wear - yellow metal shows through at some of the high points. We believe the gold to be about 9kt, and it’s also a plating of some type. The buckle measures 3 x 2-1/2" and weighs in at 47.5 grams. Unmarked. In overall very good condition, except for the few worn spots already mentioned; the gold might be a little worn in a few places too – it’s difficult to tell because of the texturing...

This pretty little pin is very Art Nouveau! A lady’s face is surrounded by ribbons and flourishes, some set with seed pearls. It is gold filled, and measures 1-1/8” x 7/8”. Her nose and chin show some wear, and the metal could use brightening up a bit. The pin stem assembly is mounted in a somewhat unusual fashion – please see photos. Circa 1900. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully, as we are not responsible for buyer remorse...

These earrings are so pretty, and go with just about everything. The citrines are set in very simple 14k gold settings and measure 6mm or 1/8” in diameter. The earrings weigh 1.1g. They are stamped 14k, and have a stylized maker’s mark which could be “MP”; they are also stamped “CZ” for some reason. I have tested the stones and they are definitely citrines. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully, as we are not responsible for buyer remorse...

This beautiful pin is a crossover between the Art Nouveau and Victorian styles. The Victorians loved to use real insects, particularly these green beetles, in jewelry. The Nouveau jewelers loved naturalistic motifs, but generally didn’t use the insect itself – yet the design of the pin is totally Nouveau. Marked 14k, the pale gold setting contrasts nicely with the green of the beetle. The pin stem assembly is original...

This is a classic Victorian pin/necklace in a pinwheel design, with 9 lovely bright dark purple garnet and glass doublets, and lots of seed pearls. It has both a pin stem assembly for use as a brooch, and a ring for a chain. Hallmarked 10k on the clasp. There is a small break in the gold framework, which doesn’t endanger the piece at all, and isn’t noticeable without magnification; otherwise in excellent condition. 1” in diameter. Circa 1880. Please read this description and look at the ph...

Here is a lovely pair of white gold-fronted double cuff links. Each end is marked WHITE GOLD FRONT BELAIS 14K; TALON GRIP TRADEMARK, and is octagonal, measuring 5/8 x 7/16”, with rigid connectors, hinged at one end. Belais Brothers were amongst the first to develop a formula for white gold (their patent was for 1917). Many think they were the premier workers in white gold, and their jewels are highly collectible. These show some wear to the gold, with a bit of red metal (copper?) showing throu...

These gorgeous cuff links are composed of slightly oval rock crystals carved with a seashell-like pattern, intersected by rows of calibre-cut blue sapphires. 18k (tested) white gold backs and links are marked with what appears to be European hallmarks – they are too blurry to read. The rock crystals measure 5/8” x 9/16”, and together they weigh 7.2g. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully, as we are not responsible for buyer remorse. Thanks! This pair of identical rich yellow gold pins would be an excellent addition to your collection of Victorian jewelry! 1-1/4” x ¼”, they say “BEBE” on the front. They test as 9k, weigh 3.0 g, and the findings are signed “VID”. There are tiny flowers and floral designs at the edges. It looks like the findings are old replacements. One of them has 2 brownish stains on the back, otherwise in excellent condition. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully, as we a...

This gorgeous brooch depicts a red poppy in full bloom, with leaves and buds. Poppies have symbolized sleep, peace, and resurrection. They are also worn to commemorate those who have fallen in battle. This pin was made by the well-known and very collectible Bippart Griscomb & Osborn of Newark, New Jersey. Their maker’s mark is on the back, as well as a hallmark for 14k. It measures 1” x 1-1/4” and has the long pin stem often found on antique pieces. It has a pearl mounted at the top, and a...

This gorgeous lavalier sports a light purple amethyst (reputedly good for clarity of mind), framed by rose gold panels which could be seen as Nouveau or Arts & Crafts. It has a pearl dangle with good luster which is interestingly off-round. Measuring 1-5/8” including the pearl but not the ring, by 7/8”. The amethyst measures 3/8” x ¼”. It is marked “9ct” but tests as 10k. It weighs 2.1g and is in excellent antique condition. The chain is 16” and tests as and is marked 14k on the ...

This great pin from England features a large peridot (1 cm x 6 mm or 3/8” x 2/8”), and, on either side, pearl-set clover heads. Flanking those are 3 demantoids per side, plus 1 above and 1 below the peridot. PERIDOTS are the birthstone for August. They symbolize spring, youthfulness, and bring health and wealth! Off to either side is a whiplash of pearl-set gold. On the back, “15ct” is carved into the gold. The pin stem assembly is original, and it weighs .18 oz or 5.1 g. It measures 1-9...

This ring is classic and stunning – when worn, the liveliness of the stones is riveting! Demantoids from the original mines in the Ural Mountains of Russia (which we believe this is) that are this big are very rare. This one is slightly oval, has the diagnostic horsetail inclusions, and is of an older cut. Some of the facets are a little abraded, but its beauty is still remarkable, especially since we’ve just had the table (the top, flat, facet) re-polished. The appraisal states that the est...

This lovely orchid was made from a richly-colored, unmarked but tested, 10kt yellow gold. It has amazing details, an Old European Cut diamond (etw .30 - .35), and a fan pearl. Weighing in at .09oz or 2.6g, it measures 1” by about 7/8”, is quite dimensional, and SO Art Nouveau! It is unmarked, but we believe it was made in Newark, NJ. It is in excellent condition, except for a minor problem with one of the petals - it is detached at its central anchor point, but is firmly attached to the pin-...

These cuff links are really pretty! The Nouveau sensibility is strong – flowing lines highlighting a naturalistic motif of iris blossoms. Irises symbolize hope, valor, and wisdom. The French fleur-de-lis is modeled on an iris. Unmarked, they test as 10k gold. The decorated panels are 1” x ½”, and they weigh 3.9g.
