Here is a lovely watch pin made of marked and tested 14k gold, many seed pearls, and 2 accent diamonds. The motif consists of leaves and vines, with 2 pretty little flowers with heart-shaped petals, and it’s just beautiful. It measures 1-1/8 x 1-1/4" and weighs in at 6.9g. One seed pearl was missing, so we had it replaced. The pin stem assembly is original. It could be cleaned a little, but it looks great as is. In excellent condition, and circa 1910...

This intriguing jewel has a saint, probably St. Peter, holding a key (to the church? To heaven?), and with a bird – a dove? - in the background) on one side, and a photograph of an ecclesiastical-looking person on the other. It contains a touched relic, a bit of ribbon which has been touched to the bone or something worn by a saint; a tiny base metal medal with Mary on one side, saying "Mary conceived without sin”, more Christian imagery on the other, and a wisp of cotton...

Here is a very pretty ring with a triangular synthetic alexandrite and 2 full-cut diamond accent stones. The stone is a steel blue in daylight, and a pretty purple in incandescent light, with teal blue flashes; it measures ¼” per side. Size 7-3/4, and easily sized. It is marked 10k and is in excellent condition – I believe it was never worn. Circa 2000. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully, as we are not responsible for buyer remorse...

Here is a lovely ring, from either the early Victorian or late Georgian period, in rose gold which tests as 18k. The center stone is a ruby cut in an older style, but in excellent condition - possibly a replacement stone. It is surrounded by 8 rose cut and more randomly-cut diamonds that might be foiled, but in any case are in a closed-back setting. Typically for the period, a couple of them are chipped or have fractures. It is unmarked and has a nice patina...

This sweet and delicate Victorian ring is made from unmarked rose gold which tests as a strong 10kt. It features 2 opals, 2 green garnet-and-glass doublets (opal is the birthstone for October; doublets are very common in Victorian jewelry), and 8 tiny seed pearls. It is a bit over a size 5-1/2. The setting measures 1/4” N and S, and ½” E and W. The maker’s mark is a Maltese Cross. The opals have a couple small chips, and I have had the setting laser soldered where there was a tiny break...

Here is a sterling silver fancy-link chain, from the era of the Titanic (but possibly as late as the Art Deco period – Downton Abbey!), which is interesting enough to be worn on its own, or you can could hang a pendant or watch from it. The clasp is stamped “Sterling”. It measures 26”, and the links are ¼” or 4mm wide at the widest point. It weighs 5.6g or 0.19 oz, and is in excellent condition...

This sweetheart of a ring, made recently in the Art Nouveau style, is a continual band of blue enameled flowers (each centered by a diamond), pink enameled foliage, and trails of more tiny diamonds. Just beautiful! Made from 18k yellow gold (and marked 18k, as well as having a maker's mark), it is has a nice weight (8.5g), yet is elegant and graceful. It contains 30 points of a carat in diamonds (just under 1/3 carat). This ring is a size 6, and is NOT resizable...

Here is a stickpin featuring a yummy burnt-orange colored oval carnelian, set in 10kt gold and surrounded by an oval of gold set with 4 seed pearls. It is marked 10kt. The setting measures 13/16” x 1/2", and the whole thing 2-3/8". The pin has a bit of a bend to it toward the top, otherwise in excellent antique condition. Most likely Victorian or Edwardian. Iolite is a fascinating stone. It was thought that it leads to inner knowledge and protects the wearer from disease. It was used in acrostic jewelry in the 18th c. to help spell out “faith.” It has strong pleochroism, which means that the stone’s color is different, depending on the angle from which you view it. As you can see in the photos, from some angles it shows up as blue, from others, as purple. From a 3rd angle it would show up as a sort of yellow, but because of the setting this ...

Here is a shield-shaped sorority pin (9/16 x ½”), with 16 tiny seed pearls set around the perimeter, and 3 colored stones. The 2 upper stones are emerald green, the bottom one is sapphire blue. They are too tiny to identify with certainty. The shield is crossed by a band of white enamel bisecting a background of black enamel. On the band are the Greek letters Kappa Phi, and in gold on one side is a candle stick and on the other is a flower. On the back it is engraved with what looks like a s...

Joan is one of the patron saints of France, and patron of soldiers. This is an intricate design by Edmond-Henri Becker, well-known French medalist. The front of this piece shows Joan of Arc in profile, also a shield decorated with a sword, a crown, and 2 fleurs-de-lis. Above her head is a banner saying “1429” and “Jehanne d’Arc”. The back shows a banner with a saint (or possibly the Madonna and Child – hard to tell) with two people praying. Also shown are a spear, the pommel of a swo...

This sweet ring comes out of the Art Deco era of The Great Gatsby. The diamond is a very sparkly “transitional” diamond, i.e., between the older style of cutting and the modern round brilliant style. It weighs approximately .63 (or 63/100th of a carat), and is just really pretty. I don’t really know how to photograph diamonds, so my photos don’t do it justice. The diamond is set in platinum, and the ring shank is (marked) 14k gold. There is a maker’s mark which is too worn to read. Abo...
