Here is a brooch with an ancient Celtic design – two birds with enameled wings, bodies and eyes, with interlaced silver above and below. The enamel is in green, blue, white, and red. It is marked 925 for sterling silver, and has several other marks which are illegible. 1-1/2” X 1-1/4”. There are a couple places where the enamel isn’t perfect – please see photos. Probably a more recent casting of an older piece, and very pretty...

Here is a delightful plique a jour stylized moth, most likely German or Austrian in origin. The body has 4 colorless paste stones, and there is an emerald green paste stone in the tail. The plique shades from green to white to peach. 1-1/2” by ¾”, and stamped “800” on the back. It is in excellent antique condition and circa 1900. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully, as we are not responsible for buyer remorse...

This beautiful 14k (tested) rose gold pin has a floral and crescent moon motif (a crescent moon is the symbol for the female principal, intuition and new beginnings), accented by 10 rose cut diamonds in closed-back settings. The diamonds are erratically cut, which is typical of the era, and they sparkle nicely. It has 2 makers marks: an oak leaf in an oval, and the letters “JR” and possibly another that is illegible; no hallmarks. It measures 1-1/2 x ¾”...

Shades of emerald, peridot, and topaz set in gold-tone metal make this a wonderful piece, and its size makes it a statement. Measuring 2-1/2” x 1-1/2”, it is in excellent condition. All the stones are present, and prong set. There are some repairs on the back, and it’s possible that the pin stem assembly is not original, but none of that has any impact on the beauty of this piece...

These lovely earrings have nice long dangles – the entire earring measures 1-3/4 long, and the dangle is 1-5/16”. They measure just under 1/2” at the widest point. The dangles have a charming bird and flower motif. They were sold to me as 18k, but they are unmarked and I got odd test results. This could be due to their country of origin...

This is a classic Victorian pin/necklace in a pinwheel design, with 9 lovely bright dark purple garnet and glass doublets, and lots of seed pearls. It has both a pin stem assembly for use as a brooch, and a ring for a chain. Hallmarked 10k on the clasp. There is a small break in the gold framework, which doesn’t endanger the piece at all, and isn’t noticeable without magnification; otherwise in excellent condition. 1” in diameter. Circa 1880...

This sweet and delicate Victorian-era ring is made from unmarked rose gold which tests as a strong 10kt. It features 2 opals, 2 green garnet-and-glass doublets (opal is the birthstone for October; doublets are very common in Victorian jewelry), and 8 tiny seed pearls. It is a bit over a size 5-1/2. The setting measures 1/4” N and S, and ½” E and W. The maker’s mark is a Maltese cross...

This sweet lady is made of unmarked but tested 18k yellow gold. Spangled with 8 tiny diamonds (the birthstone for April), and with her hair swept up into a bun with whispy tendrils of hair around her ears, she is just charming! She measures 1” x 1”, and weighs 2.5g. The gold is a little worn at the high points, and we had the ring repaired, as it was worn very thin – someone clearly loved this jewel! On the back, it looks as though someone made a groove for testing the gold. Otherwise in v...

This gorgeous piece sports 2 large and lovely peridots. The central stone is cushion cut, and the dangle is pear-shaped. It is decorated with a total of 28 seed pearls of slightly varying colors, set into the leaves & vine-like gold ribbons. It is marked 14k on 1 leaf and the spring ring. In excellent condition. The decorative panels measure 3-1/2" x 1", and the whole thing measures 15-1/4" total (I have gold necklace extenders available if that’s too short). Circa 1910, right around the time ...

Attributed to Juliana, this pin is set with rhinestones in purple, pink and two tones of blue, in what looks and feels like pewter. It measures 2” x 1-1/2” and weighs 0.96oz or 27g. The large stones are prong set in open-back settings, the smaller are glued into closed-back settings. Two stones are missing, but it’s not obvious. Juliana was a line of jewelry created by DeLizza & Elster, between 1968 and 1969. This jewel is unsigned, which is fairly typical of the Juliana jewels. Please re...

I am in love with this necklace! I hate to sell it, but a girl’s got to earn a living, right? It combines an Art Nouveau central panel set with a freshwater pearl and a sapphire-blue paste stone with an Etruscan-like fringe. Unmarked, it really looks like gold, however it tests as rolled gold or gold fill (I haven’t tested the fringe for fear of damaging it). The central panel measures 1-1/4” x 1-1/4” including the dangles. In total, there are 11 graduated dangles, the longest being ¾...

Here is a pretty sterling buckle with a floral motif. The plique is red, 2 different blues, and green. It is signed with a “JK” above another “JK” in a box. It has marks for London, 1886, and a duty mark. Measuring 3-1/8” x 2-1/4", it weighs 32.7g or 1.16 oz. It’s in quite good condition. The plique has a few hairlines and some bubbles, neither of which is uncommon. The red and blue plique is dark, so it’s not very visible in the photo. The red plique appears to have some very fine...

This pretty ring comes out of the era when Edwardian styles were sliding into Art Deco. It is marked “925” for sterling silver, and set with a pretty ruby, birthstone for July. Rubies have been called “the queen of stones and the stone of kings.” The ring has the mellow patina of age, and is size 6. This sweet necklace would be a perfect Valentine’s Day gift for your wife, sweetheart, daughter, niece ….. Pansies have been equated with thoughtfulness, free thinking, and deep contemplation. Thus Shakespeare’s Ophelia said "There's pansies, that's for thoughts." This little pansy is made from (tested) 10k gold, with a modern-looking 14k bale (which may be a later replacement, making the pansy itself more likely to be an older piece). The enamel shades from dark yellow through to white, w...

Here is a nice micromosaic brooch, possibly from Italy – in the 1800s the Italians were making these pieces for the tourist trade. This one is made of red, blue, and white tesserae, and none of them are missing, which is unusual. The setting is brass, we believe, and the whole thing is 2-5/8” x 7/16". It is signed “FAP” on the back. It’s a bit dirty, and there seems to be a break in the twisted metal decoration around the edge, but it’s barely visible without magnification. Please ...
