The design of this piece is delightful and absolutely mad! It is primarily an Egyptian Revival piece, centering the Goddess Hathor (a goddess of music, dance, foreign lands and fertility who helped women in childbirth [Wikipedia]). She is wearing big earrings, and her usual headdress. She seems to have a flower in her hair, and in front of her there is greenery tied by a ribbon with a bow (laurel? Mistletoe?)...

Here is a lovely and graceful fairy, made in the Art Nouveau style. While new, she still conveys the design ethos of a bygone era. (During the Nouveau era – roughly 1890–1915 - there were very few fairy jewels made.) She is made from 18k yellow gold, and her wings are plique a jour (translucent enamel). The colors shade from pink to almost white, and then into green. Her golden hair is accented by a round brilliant cut diamond, and at her feet is a cultured pearl dangle...

Here is an interesting pair of identical pins from the Art Nouveau era. They feature a woman’s face flanked by flowers; their hair is greenish! I have been unable to determine what the metal is, so assume base metal. They measure 1-1/4” x ½”. The pin stem assemblies are old, but they may be replacements. Circa 1900. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully, as I am not responsible for buyer remorse. Thanks! Shipping, handling & insurance within the USA included.

Here is a very pretty and graceful brooch depicting a sprig of lily of the valley (which symbolizes “a return to happiness,” and is frequently used in wedding bouquets). It is marked 925, and tests for silver. Because of the way the stones are set, we can’t test them, but we’re pretty certain they are carnelians. 11 marcasites add sparkle to the whole. There is an illegible maker’s mark. It measures 1” x 5/8" and is in excellent condition. From the 1950’s or earlier, we believe...

This gorgeous lavalier sports a light purple amethyst (reputedly good for clarity of mind), framed by rose gold panels which could be seen as Nouveau or Arts & Crafts. You decide. It has a pearl dangle with good luster which is interestingly off-round. Measuring 1-5/8” including the pearl but not the ring, by 7/8”. The amethyst measures 3/8” x ¼”. It is marked “9ct” but tests as 10k. It weighs 2.1g and is in excellent antique condition...

Here is a gorgeous pendant/pin with a stylized motif of green to yellow enamel in a floral pattern reminiscent of the French fleur-de-lis. It is centered by a small diamond (approx. 5 points), and has a pearl-set modified starburst accenting the enameled “petals.” 14k rose gold, it measures 1” in diameter at the widest point. The bale folds down neatly when it’s worn as a brooch. We have had the enamel touched up at the edges, so it is now in excellent condition. Chain not included...

This is so sparkly and pretty! Jane Austen, or one of her characters such as Lizzie Bennet could have worn this. Made from silver (tested), with a base metal pin stem, and set with paste stones, it is in the form of a graceful lyre surmounted by a crescent moon. Lyres come out of ancient Greece, and were said to represent the underlying harmony of the universe (wow!). Crescent moons have represented the feminine principle and intuitive, psychic energy...

Here is a large oval brooch with beautifully monogrammed initials. It is marked “STERLING” and has an illegible maker’s mark. Measuring 3” x 2-1/8”, it weighs 27.1g or .06oz. It is from the Victorian period, and is in excellent condition, but could use a bit of cleaning if you wish. This striking pin is composed of 2 beautifully engraved silver circles intertwined with an oval, and set with ovals of agate of various colors. Agates have been used in jewelry going back into antiquity. They were thought to ward against storms and headaches, attract strength, and to affect dreaming. Queen Victoria became enamored of Scotland during her reign, so everything Scottish became popular during that period (except, perhaps, haggis!), especially post 1848 when she bought Balmoral Castle...

This lovely ring is composed of a cluster of 7 amethysts birthstone for February, and historically thought to guard against drunkenness and poison), and on either side of the cluster, a bezel-set accent diamond (of about I quality) and one tiny half seed pearl. The ring is approximately size 6-1/2, and would be easy to re-size. Marked 10K and signed ECI. In excellent condition, with just a bit of patina. The gold is yellow, despite looking rosy in the photos. Please read the description and loo...

So much symbolism in this pretty jewel! It depicts a crescent moon – symbol of the female principal, intuition and new beginnings; an arrow – symbol of Sagittarius, swiftness (think of Katniss Everdeen), and sexual attraction (Cupid’s bow); and a 5-pointed star, symbolic of so many things I don’t even want to start! It is set with 11 turquoises (birthstone for December, believed to be good for healing, focus, etc.) and one seed pearl. It tests as 14k gold. The head measures 7/8” at th...

Here is a pretty brush with repousse decorations depicting Art Nouveau lilies on its top, and fancy swirls on the handle. It measures 5-3/4” x 3". It is stamped Sterling, and there are other marks which are illegible. There is a little bit of damage to the silver at the top of the brush, which is shown in - and is actually exaggerated by – the photos. The handle has a plain area on both sides, ready for your monogram. On one side this area has some dings to it. On the other side the photos ...

This ring is classic and stunning – when worn, the liveliness of the stones is riveting! Demantoids from the original mines in the Ural Mountains of Russia that are this big are very rare. This one is slightly oval, has the diagnostic horsetail inclusions, and is of an older cut. Some of the facets are a little abraded, but its beauty is still remarkable, especially since we’ve just had the table (the top, flat, facet) re-polished. The appraisal states that the estimated total weight is 1 ca...

This lovely and detailed Titanic-era garland necklace features a winged heart, symbolic of love and openness. The heart has green enamel with orange highlights, and it and the wings are set with seed pearls. Above are gold curlicues, and below is a (tested) diamond dropper. It’s got a faint 10K mark on the back, but tests as 14K. The spring ring is marked 1/20 14k Gold Filled, but the chain tests for 14k, so we assume the spring ring is a replacement. The central design elements measure 1-1/2...

This sweet lady is made of unmarked but tested 18k yellow gold. Spangled with 8 tiny diamonds (the birthstone for April), and with her hair swept up into a bun with whispy tendrils of hair around her ears, she is just charming! She measures 1” x 1”, and weighs 2.5g. The gold is a little worn at the high points, and we had the ring repaired, as it was worn very thin – someone clearly loved this jewel! On the back, it looks as though someone made a groove for testing the gold. Otherwise in v...

Here we have a pretty 9k yellow gold pendant. The design is Art Nouveau/Arts & Crafts. It is centered by a dark red garnet, possibly a spessartite. Garnets are the birthstone for January, and were thought to bring travelers safely home. The dangle is set with a blister pearl of a mellow off-white color. There are 3 tiny seed pearls in the main setting. It is hallmarked “9ct”, and the attached chain is marked “375 9k.” The pendant measures 1-5/16" x 7/8", and the total length of the chain...
