This Masonic-themed spoon is marked STERLING F.A. WHELAN. Both sides of the bowl, the hilt, and the tip are gold washed. It has lots of Masonic symbolism incorporated into the design. The dates on the spoon handle (1732-1799) are the birth and death dates for George Washington, who was a Mason. We were told that the spoon is approximately 100 years old. It measures 4-1/8", and weighs 10.9g. There is a tiny shallow scratch in the metal of the bowl, in the upper right corner of photo number 2, 1/1...

These cuff links are really pretty! The Nouveau sensibility is strong – flowing lines highlighting a naturalistic motif of iris blossoms. Irises symbolize hope, valor, and wisdom. The French fleur-de-lis is modeled on an iris. Unmarked, they test as 10k gold. The decorated panels are 1” x 1/2”, and they weigh 3.9g. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! Shipping, handling & insurance within the USA included.

Here is a lovely pair of white gold-fronted double cuff links. Each end is marked WHITE GOLD FRONT BELAIS 14K; TALON GRIP TRADEMARK, and is octagonal, measuring 5/8 x 7/16”, with rigid connectors, hinged at one end. Belais Brothers were amongst the first to develop a formula for white gold (their patent was for 1917). Many think they were the premier workers in white gold, and their jewels are highly collectible. These show some wear to the gold, with a bit of red metal (copper?) showing throu...

This beetle is in very good condition (though the pin is slightly bent), and is set in unmarked but tested 14k rose gold. The beetle itself is 9/16” x 7/16” at the widest point, and is held firmly in place by 4 prongs. The whole thing is 2-3/4” long. The Victorians loved to use all kinds of organic things in their jewelry, including real beetles. This particular type seems to have been a favorite. They are very collectible! We have been told they are late Victorian, so probably Circa 1880....

Just in time for Halloween, we have a very detailed bat, wings spread wide, ready to flitter through the night sky. In China, bats are a symbol of good luck. To Native Americans, they are symbolic of intuition, journeying, and rebirth. And then of course there’s that whole vampire thing. This bat is stamped 925 for sterling silver. It measures 2” x 1-1/8”. The 24” chain is marked 925 Italy. Together they weigh 17.8g. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefull...

Here is a brooch with an ancient Celtic design – two birds with enameled wings, bodies and eyes, with interlaced silver above and below. The enamel is in green, blue, white, and red. It is marked 925 for sterling silver, and has several other marks which are illegible. 1-1/2” X 1-1/4”. There are a couple places where the enamel isn’t perfect – please see photos. Probably a more recent casting of an older piece, and very pretty indeed! The photos are part of the description; please exa...

This lovely slide bracelet has 11 (10K & 14k) gold slides, some of which have opals and seed pearls and what looks like coral. The central slide depicts a beautiful Art Nouveau flower. The clasp is gold filled or 9k, the gold paperclip chain tests as 10k, but the round beads are hard to test beyond confirming that they are gold. One slide has a 14k hallmark and a maker’s mark, and one other has a maker’s mark, which looks like an oak leaf. It weighs in at 16.6g. It is about 7-1/2” long, 7...

We love this ring, which could have been worn by Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby, or by any of the stylish ladies of Downton Abbey! A cabochon of green chalcedony (thought by Native Americans to promote harmony and good will), reminiscent of high quality jade, is surrounded by red and green enamel on the setting. The shank has Celtic interlace decoration (also called entrelac), highlighted with more red and green enamel. It is just slightly smaller than size 6, and the top measures 13/16” x...

Here is a sweet ring, consisting of a flower made of 6 pearls (1 of which is a replacement), centered by a tiny rose cut diamond. There is a compartment underneath, perhaps for storing a tiny lock of hair, but the glass is gone. The ring tests as a very strong 14k, so it is probably 15k. There is cobalt blue enameling on the shoulders, which we’ve had repaired – this ring was obviously well loved, and it’s still beautiful! Size 6. Early Victorian. The photos are part of the description; pl...

This pretty ring is made from 10kt (marked and tested) yellow gold, with a navette-shaped ruby flanked by two tiny accent diamonds. (Ruby is the birthstone for July, and is a symbol of love, devotion, and immortality.) It also has a maker’s mark, which is either “QJ” or “OJ”. The 2 tiny accent diamonds are set in white metal – it’s not possible to tell if it’s platinum or white gold. It’s a size six, and very sweet indeed! This beautiful pin is a crossover between the Art Nouveau and Victorian styles. The Victorians loved to use real insects, particularly these green beetles, in jewelry. The Nouveau jewelers loved naturalistic motifs, but generally didn’t use the insect itself – yet the design of the pin is totally Nouveau. Marked 14k, the pale gold setting contrasts nicely with the deep green of the beetle. The pin stem assembly is original. The clasp has a nice safety lever; it is bent a bit but still works ...

This stunner is made from a magical moonstone with a cat’s eye across the top. The subtle color floats in the stone, making it mesmerizing to look at (we couldn’t do it justice in the photos). Moonstones have been symbolic of passion, but also intuition and good fortune. The setting is Celtic interlace, or “entrelac.” M, B created designs for Liberty & Co., as well as producing their own line of jewelry from 1884 – 1916. The back has M, B’s maker’s mark as well as a hallmark for 15...

This striking brooch features flowers – probably poppies – with curved flowing lines, mounted on a mother-of-pearl ova, is so pretty! Poppies have symbolized sleep (hello, Dorothy!), rest, and eternal life. The flower is silver plate, and is worn on the high places (we find that those bits actually serve as highlights). The mother of pearl is convex. It measures 1-3/4” x 1-3/8”. The pin assembly is mounted on a base metal plaque, and is of the old style. It rattles a little, but is firml...

Created in the shape of an arrow head, this wonderful stickpin features a sparkly cognac-colored diamond of approximately 10 points. Above and below the diamond are 2 lovely (cultured?) golden pearls. It weighs a satisfying 2.3g of unmarked but tested 14k yellow gold, which has been hammered to enhance the “arrow head” look. Gorgeous! It measures 1/2” x 7/16” x 2-1/2" long. In excellent condition. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Shipping, handling,...

What a sweet necklace! Pansies have been equated with thoughtfulness, free thinking, and deep contemplation. Thus Shakespeare’s Ophelia said "There's pansies, that's for thoughts." This little pansy is made from (tested) 10k gold, with a modern-looking 14k bale, probably a later addition. The enamel shades from dark yellow through to white, with some dark details, and a (cultured?) pearl center. It measures 1/2” x 1/2”, and the chain is 16’-1/2” and is marked 14k. Together they weigh 1...

Here is a lovely pair of white gold-fronted double cuff links – they could have been worn by Gatsby himself! Each end is marked BELAIS 14k W.G. This ring is one of our absolute favorites – and would make a great engagement ring for a woman who wants something a bit different. It would also be nice for the Christmas season, with the red and green stones. The central diamond is approximately 20 points (1/5 of a carat, but looks bigger), set in platinum. The rest of the setting is made of unmarked but tested 14k gold of a lovely rich yellow. There are 4 tiny rubies and 3 tiny demantoid garnets. It’s very hard to identify the 4th green ...
