This sweet little guy has a quizzical look on his face, and is just adorable! It is unmarked, but the gold tests at about 12k. The total length is 2-1/8”, and the dog’s face is ½” x 7/16”. It weighs 0.9g. He may be a Weimaraner. They were bred as hunting dogs in the early 19th Century in Germany, and were named after the Grand Duke Weimar. In real life they are a silvery color, but this guy is a nice warm gold...

This unusual and stunning garland-type necklace has a rigid cross piece. Above is a chain running through loops over 5 oval amethysts with excellent color, each of which is set in an inverted heart-shaped framework, and separated from the next by a tiny pearl. Set below each amethyst is a seed pearl, and below the framework are 7 draping chains, the central 5 each having a freshwater pearl. At each end of the setting is an additional little round amethyst, for a total of 7...

According to some, this is St. Catherine, patroness of young maidens and female scholars. There is a (“Catherine”) wheel in the background, and a flower in the foreground. Her clothing looks very Renaissance to us. Marked “SILVER” on the C-clasp, with an illegible maker’s mark, the metal tests 90-100% silver, and she’s a dainty 7/8” in diameter. 2.5g. In excellent condition, and circa 1850...

Here is a pretty lady’s face in profile. Her long golden hair trails down to end with a tiny baroque or freshwater pearl. Total length of the face, hair and pearl is nearly ¾”. This design was based on a drawing by Charles Dana Gibson – a Gibson Girl! Please see the final photograph. It is hallmarked 14k, weighs 1.2g, and is in excellent condition. It doesn’t have a maker’s mark, but I have seen this exact stick pin with Alling’s mark. Circa 1900...

This lovely ring is made from 10kt (marked and tested) yellow gold, with a navette-shaped ruby flanked by two tiny accent diamonds. (Ruby is the birthstone for July, and is a symbol of love, devotion, and immortality.) It also has a maker’s mark, which is either “QJ” or “OJ”. The 2 tiny accent diamonds are set in white metal – it’s not possible to tell what it is...

Here is a lovely pin from the Edwardian era. Brought to Europe by the Crusaders from St. John’s Island (Zabargard), peridot is the August birthstone, and is considered to be a stone of healing and protection. This round peridot is framed by an oval of seed pearls, set into a delicate arabesque of gold with still more seed pearls, for a total of 30 (2 are replacements). Stamped 14k on the back, with an illegible maker’s mark, it measures 1-½” x 7/16"...

The design of this piece is delightful and absolutely mad! It is primarily an Egyptian Revival piece, centering the Goddess Hathor (a goddess of music, dance, foreign lands and fertility who helped women in childbirth [Wikipedia]). She is wearing big earrings, and her usual headdress. She seems to have a flower in her hair, and in front of her there is greenery tied by a ribbon with a bow (laurel? Mistletoe?)...

Here we have a pretty 9k yellow gold pendant. The design is Art Nouveau/Arts & Crafts. It is centered by a dark red garnet, possibly a spessartite. Garnets are the birthstone for January, and were thought to bring travelers safely home. The dangle is set with a blister pearl of a mellow off-white color. There are 3 tiny seed pearls in the main setting. It is hallmarked “9ct”, and the attached chain is marked “375 9k.” The pendant measures 1-5/16" x 7/8", and the total length of the chain...

Here is a sweet pin consisting of an oval front made from porcelain or china, and painted with pinkish-brownish flowers – roses? – and greenery. It has a border of gold, and is mounted on a backing of some kind of base metal. It measures 2-1/2” x 1-7/8”, and weighs 41.6g or 1.46oz. The C-Clasp is a bit bent, but doesn’t have any effect on its useability, and otherwise it is in very good antique condition. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully, as we are n...

Here is a gorgeous pendant/pin with a stylized motif of green to yellow enamel in a floral pattern reminiscent of the French fleur-de-lis. It is centered by a small diamond (approx. 5 points), and has a pearl-set modified starburst accenting the enameled “petals.” 14k rose gold, it measures 1” in diameter at the widest point. The bale folds down neatly when it’s worn as a brooch. We have had the enamel touched up at the edges, so it is now in excellent condition. Chain not included. Plea...

This wonderful bracelet is 7” long and 3/8” wide at the widest points, with 5 enameled panels which shade from dark green to pale green to magenta and back again. In between each panel is a round blister pearl. Each connecting link has a hard-to-read mark, probably a lion, also the marks for Birmingham, 1909. The maker’s mark is “S&E” for Schaverien & Eastmead. It has the original safety chain. One enamel panel has a small black spot, and one has a small chip in the enamel, barely visi...

Here is a ring made from an Unger cuff link, with a clear maker’s mark. The decoration is a flower, possibly a poppy, and vine tendrils curling down the sides – really pretty. The cuff link portion is 13/16ths” x ½”, and the band ¼” wide. It is a size 6-1/2. In excellent antique condition with an age-appropriate patina. Note that there are camera reflections and other streaky reflections in some of the photos. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully, as we...

Here is a sky-blue enamel pendant with blue enamel dropper. It tests as silver, most likely Sterling. It has two shades of light blue enamel on the front, highlighted by silver flourishes and dots. The dropper is also enameled in shaded hues of blue. The enamel continues on the back in sky blue – so lovely! Excluding the bale, it is 1-1/2” long by just under ¾” across. There are two tiny areas of enamel damage on the back, and a few areas that could use some cleaning, but otherwise it is ...

Emeralds (birthstone for May) has been thought to preserve love, and bring wisdom. These sweet bright green emerald earrings are unmarked, but the gold tests as 14k. They are 13/16” long, and the buttercup settings measure ½” across. The stones measure 5-1/2mm across. I believe the ear wires used to have hooks to slip into, but those are long gone and the stubs filed down and smoothed over for comfort. One of the emeralds is chipped in the back, but both stones face up really well. The gol...
