Roses have been symbolic of love and remembrance for centuries, as well as passion, purity, and happiness. This necklace is so elegant! Measuring 17-5/8”, the delicate chain is adorned by 3 roses, each with leaves below. They are spaced by beautifully decorated chain links, for better draping. The rest of the chain consists of a further 12 fancy links included in the chain. Each fancy link measures 7/16”, and each rose is ¾” x 5/8”. It weighs .15 oz or 4.2 g...

This great pin from England features a large peridot (1 cm x 6 mm or 3/8” x 2/8”), and, on either side, pearl-set clover heads. Flanking those are 3 demantoids per side, plus 1 above and 1 below the peridot. PERIDOTS are the birthstone for August. They symbolize spring, youthfulness, and bring health and wealth! Off to either side is a whiplash of pearl-set gold. On the back, “15ct” is carved into the gold. The pin stem assembly is original, and it weighs .18 oz or 5.1 g...

These 10kt yellow gold cuff links sport an ivy motif – one of our favorites! Ivy is symbolic of growth, marriage, and friendship. The decorated ends measure ¾” x ½”, and they weigh 3.2g or .11 oz. They don’t have any marks, but test at 10k, and we believe them to be from the Art Nouveau period. In excellent condition, and just lovely. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully, as we are not responsible for buyer remorse...

Here is a fascinating ring consisting of strands of gold tied in a kind of knot, and studded with gold balls. The decorated area measures 5/8 x ½” and the shank measures 3/16”. The ring has a maker’s mark (“J.M”), the anchor for Birmingham, the date mark for 1903-4, “9”, and “375”, however it tests as 10k. It’s approximately size 7, and weighs 5.2g or 0.19oz...

This classic brooch features a ribbon and flower motif, with a ring of white enamel in the center. The central pearl is most probably original, but the pearl on the dangle may be a replacement (as so many are). It is marked with the French eagle for 18k gold and partial owl marks with “73”, indicating a piece that was imported into France post 1893 and assayed in the town of Rouen. There is also what looks like a blurry French maker’s mark, oddly...

This wonderful Georgian ring could have been worn by one of Jane Austen’s more well-to-do characters! It features a rose-cut diamond (pointed top instead of flat), set in 14 or 15 carat gold with decorations in black enamel on the shank, which are still in excellent condition. Diamond is the birthstone for April. The ring is approximately a size 5. It isn’t possible to estimate the weight of set rose cut diamonds; it is in the I range for clarity – normal for its era...

Weird but wonderful, and SO Victorian! Here is a grooming chatelaine from some time in the 1800s – very hard to put a more specific age to this. It has a Chinese fish motif at the top, and dangling from that are 3 implements, a tweezers, an ear-cleaning device, and a third implement for cleaning nails. (I just saw a similar chatelaine on eBay that was advertised as a device for opium users.) It tests positive for silver, but is unmarked and with a patina consistent with age. It is lacking a be...

Here is a truly lovely garland necklace out of the Edwardian era, with an Art Nouveau design sensibility. It is pictured in Vivienne Becker’s “Art Nouveau Jewelry” on page 185. She describes it as having “festoons of gold chain in the Edwardian manner, set with … peridots, and decorated with shaded satin enamel, c. 1900.” It is unmarked, but tests as 14k gold. It centers an oval peridot, has several small pearls, and an accent diamond; also a dropper ending with another oval peridot....

Irises symbolize faith, hope, wisdom and courage – and they were named after the Greek messenger of the Gods! This stickpin depicts a beautifully detailed iris, centered by a tiny single cut diamond. Unmarked, but tests as 10k gold. It measures 2-1/2" long, the iris is 7/8” x ½”, and it weighs 1.1g. In excellent condition and circa 1900. Ancient Greeks though amber was sunshine which had solidified and fallen to earth – how romantic! Here is a pair of earrings which we had made over from a single cuff link, made c. 1920. Recycling/upcycling at its best! My jeweler came up with an ingenious way of creating these earrings – please see the photos. The backing of each (old) peacock glass setting is marked STERLING, and the (new) ear wires are sterling as well. Each cab measures 9/16” x 5/16", and the earrings hang a total of 1-1/2” each. The cufflink was an antique, so the glass shows some abrasion, but this is unnoticeabl...

Here is a sweet little pin, measuring 7/8” across. It’s very autumnal, with leaves enameled in shades of green, yellow and orange, alternating with leaves set with 3 seed pearls each, and centering another seed pearl. The findings are original, with a neat security clasp. On the clasp is a maker’s mark consisting of an arrow with a circle at the end, probably for Robert Klitz, of New York. No hallmarks, but it tests for 14k gold. Circa 1900. Please read this description and look at the ph...
