Created in the shape of an arrow head, this wonderful stickpin features a sparkly cognac diamond of approximately 10 points. Above and below the diamond are 2 lovely (cultured?) golden pearls. It weighs a satisfying 2.3g of unmarked but tested 14k yellow gold, which has been hammered to enhance the “arrow head” look. Gorgeous! It measures 1/2” x 7/16” x 2-1/2" long. In excellent condition. This heavily engraved pin is from the estate of Helen Aman, who escaped from the Bolshevik Revolution to (eventually) settle in California - it was one of her childhood jewels. It consists of a bell (with a clapper – but it doesn’t actually chime) dangling from an angled bar. Marked 84 for 875 silver, it also has a partial city mark, probably for Moscow. It measures 1-3/8” x 7/8", and is in excellent antique condition, with a nice patina. (For more of Helen’s story, contact us.) The pho...

Here is a very classy and classic ring by the well-known American company, Belais, one of the earliest companies to make jewelry using white gold. It is stamped 18k and “Belais,” and was sized to fit a 6-1/2 finger. The transitional cut diamond is approximately .10 ct. The side stones are synthetic sapphires, which were quite commonly used in fine jewelry in this time period. It has wheat sheaf engraving on shoulders and a medium-high gallery. Circa 1940. The photos are part of the descript...

These elegant 14 k gold earrings are set with five round garnets each. The bezel settings have closed backs. Hidden quality is present here. Just as having elegant detail in a garment to give the wearer an extra feeling of wonderful, these earrings have delicately patterned backs that show only on close inspection. Beautiful! (Picture 5) The earrings are Georgian in age (pre 1837) and are 3/4" long. Gotta love the workmanship!

Ruby is the birthstone for July, and symbolizes love, devotion, and immortality. Pearls symbolize purity and harmony. What a great combination for these pretty earrings! They test as 10kt gold, although they are marked 375 for 9 karat gold. The hanging flower basket motif is quite charming! They contain a total of 16 rubies and 18 seed pearls. The total length is 1-7/8”, and together they weight 4.3g. As usual with older earrings, it’s possible that the wires are replacements. In excellent...

Here is a lovely pendant, enameled in an intense blue with patches of a much lighter blue. The dropper shades from a pale green through a lighter blue into the intense blue of the main part of the jewel. The back is marked sterling silver, and the dropper is marked silver. It measures 1-3/8 x 1-3/16, and is on a new 18” sterling chain. In very good condition overall. The enamel shows a little bit of wear around the edges, and it’s possible that the enamel is chipped at the very top, center, ...

These 10kt yellow gold cuff links sport an ivy motif – one of our favorites! Ivy is symbolic of growth, marriage, and friendship. The decorated ends measure 3/4” x 1/2”, and they weigh 3.2g. Unmarked, they test at 10k, and we believe them to be from the Art Nouveau period. In excellent condition, and really lovely. The photos are part of the description so please examine them carefully. This fantastic locket is a show stopper! The front has a lovely Egyptian woman or girl in profile, wearing a headdress, from which a few locks of hair have escaped, and hoop earrings. She is nestled within a crescent moon (symbolic of the female principal, intuition, and new beginnings). The back has a monogram, and inside it has both photo rings, but no celluloid. That can easily be fixed with plastic. Unusually large, it measures 1-5/8”, and weighs .77 ounce. It is made of gold over silver, ...

This brooch combines the styles of Art Nouveau and Edwardian jewelry, and is remarkably similar to a couple of pieces by Whiteside & Blank that we’ve seen; however it is unsigned (not unusual for the time). The pin consists of a framework enameled in very pale green, in a formal Edwardian key pattern. In the middle is a sprig of leaves with a pearl berry; the stem twines around the framework in back, in a Nouveau fashion. There are 3 additional pearls set on the frame. It is marked (and tested...

Here is a lovely spoon by Unger Brothers, signed with their maker’s mark and hallmark, and “COPYRIGHT 1904”. The pattern is called Jonquil. Jonquil is the flower for those born in March, representing happiness and friendship. It measures 4-1/2”, and the bowl of the spoon is just short of 2” across. It has a nice patina, a monogrammed M or W and is in overall very good condition. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Shipping, handling & insurance within...

This lovely (unmarked but tested) 10kt gold jewel is from the early 1800s (around Jane Austen's time), when cannetille work was the vogue: very fine gold wires twisted into thin ropes and then formed into rosettes and whatnot. The amethyst is a lovely delicate shade, and weighs approximately 2.5 carats – it’s very deep. Amethysts are said to bring calm, and help banish headaches. The bale is decorated very prettily. The whole lavalier, including the bale, measures 1-1/2 x 9/16”. Two of the...

This lovely and very old serving spoon could have graced the dining room of any of Miss Jane Austen’s well-to-do characters. It has a berry motif in the gold-washed interior of the bowl (the wash or gilt is very pale and doesn’t show up in the photos). By its hallmarks (crowned leopard’s head, lion passant, and date letter “N” with “feathers”), it was made in London during 1768-1769. The maker’s mark is a script “BB”. It measures 8-1/2" x 1-3/4", and weighs approximately 56g....

So much symbolism in this pretty jewel! It depicts a crescent moon – symbol of the female principal, intuition and new beginnings; an arrow – symbol of swiftness (think: Katniss Everdeen, “Arrow”), Sagittarius, and sexual attraction (Cupid’s bow); and a 5-pointed star, symbolic of so many things we won’t even start! It is set with 11 turquoises (birthstone for December, believed to be good for healing and focus) and one seed pearl. The rose gold tests as 14kt. It measures 7/8” at ...

What a sweet necklace! Pansies have been equated with thoughtfulness, free thinking, and deep contemplation. Thus Shakespeare’s Ophelia said "There's pansies, that's for thoughts." This little pansy is made from (tested) 10k gold, with a modern-looking 14k bale, probably a later addition. The enamel shades from dark yellow through to white, with some dark details, and a (cultured?) pearl center. It measures 1/2” x 1/2”, and the chain is 16’-1/2” and is marked 14k. Together they weigh 1...

Measuring 1-1/8”, weighing 9.5g, and marked 10k, he is set up inside for 2 photographs with both celluloid and photo rings. He's a somewhat rosy gold. He also sports the maker’s mark for Kroll. This pretty ring comes out of the era when Edwardian styles were sliding into Art Deco. It is marked “925” for sterling silver, and set with a pretty ruby, birthstone for July. Rubies have been called “the queen of stones and the stone of kings.” The ring has the mellow patina of age, and is size 6. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. This pretty pin is very Art Nouveau! A lady’s face is surrounded by ribbons and flourishes, some set with seed pearls. It is gold filled, and measures 1-1/8” x 7/8”. Her nose and chin show some wear, and the metal could use brightening up a bit. The pin stem assembly is mounted in a somewhat unusual fashion – please see photos. Circa 1900. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! Shipping, handling & insurance within the USA is included.
