Here is a young lady, nicely realized in 14k (marked and tested) yellow gold. She is shown in profile against a textured oval background. Her hair curls around at the base of the oval, and her bangs are in slight disarray – sweet!. She measures ½” x 3/8”, with an overall length of 2-1/4”. 1.4 g. She could be cleaned up a bit – I leave that to the new owner to decide. Circa 1900 and in excellent condition...

This lovely (unmarked but tested) 10kt gold jewel is from the early 1800s (around Jane Austen's time), when cannetille work was the vogue: very fine gold wires twisted into thin ropes and then formed into rosettes and whatnot. The amethyst is a lovely delicate shade, and weighs approximately 2.5 carats – it’s very deep. Amethysts are said to bring calm, help banish headaches, and protect against drunkenness. The bale is decorated very prettily...

This sweet ring comes out of the Art Deco era of The Great Gatsby. The diamond is a very sparkly “transitional” diamond, i.e., between the older style of cutting and the modern round brilliant style. It weighs approximately .63 (or 63/100th of a carat), and is just really pretty. We don’t really know how to photograph diamonds, so the photos don’t do it justice. The diamond is set in platinum, and the ring shank is (marked) 14k gold. There is a maker’s mark which is too worn to read...

This classy brooch highlights a large amethyst with a row of seed pearls, surrounded by an enameled key pattern. Marked 14k, and signed by the Riker Bros. of Newark, NJ, it measures 1-3/16” x 13/16” and weighs 8.0g or .28oz. It is in excellent condition, overall, but with a very small ding to the upper left edge, and very tiny pitting in the enamel, which isn’t visible without a loupe...

Here is a really pretty, easy-to-wear ring that could have been worn by Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby, or any of the stylish ladies of Downton Abbey. A cabochon of green chalcedony (thought by native Americans to promote harmony and good will), reminiscent of high quality jade, is surrounded by red and green enamel on the setting. The shank has Celtic interlace decoration (sometimes called entrelac), also highlighted with red and green enamel...

This striking brooch is just lovely! It has flowers – poppies? – with curved flowing lines, mounted on a mother-of-pearl oval. Poppies have symbolized sleep (hello, Dorothy!), rest, and eternal life. The flower is silver plate, and is worn in places (I find that the worn places actually serve as highlights). The mother of pearl is convex. It measures 1-3/4” x 1-3/8”. The pin assembly is mounted on a base metal plaque, and is of the old style. It rattles a little, but is firmly in place...

Here is a lovely ring, which could have graced the finger of a lady on the Titanic, or on the set of Downton Abbey or The Great Gatsby. It is marked “925” for sterling silver, and set with a pretty ruby. It’s a size 6, and with the mellow patina of age. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully, as we are not responsible for buyer remorse. Shipping, handling & insurance within the USA included.

Here is a pretty brush with repousse decorations depicting Art Nouveau lilies on its top, and fancy swirls on the handle. It measures 5-3/4” x 3". It is stamped Sterling, and there are other marks which are illegible. There is a little bit of damage to the silver at the top of the brush, which is shown in - and is actually exaggerated by – the photos. The handle has a plain area on both sides, ready for your monogram. On one side this area has some dings to it...

This fantastic locket is a show stopper! The front has a lovely Egyptian lady in profile, wearing a headdress – from which a few locks of hair have escaped – and hoop earrings. She is nestled within a crescent moon (symbolic of the female principal, intuition, and new beginnings). The back has a monogram, and inside it has both photo rings, but no celluloid. That could easily be fixed with plastic. Bigger than usual, it measures 1-5/8”, and weighs .77 ounce. It is made of gold over silver,...

Ancient Greeks though amber was sunshine which had solidified and fallen to earth – how romantic! Here are some satisfyingly chunky amber earrings, made from heat-treated amber, with ear wires which test as a gold wash or vermeil. Total hanging length is 2-2/8”. This young girl is so sweet! Shown in profile, with flowers in her hair and more beneath, she is mounted in hallmarked 18k gold. (It is marked “K18”, and I’ve tested it to make sure.) There is a gold foliate wreath, fastened with a ribbon, gracefully draped across the lower part. The pin stem assembly has a trombone catch. The bale folds down when worn as a brooch. It measures 2-1/4 x 1-7/8", and is in excellent condition. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully...

This beautiful pendant has a very Gothic feel to it. It is centered by an amethyst with good color. Amethysts were thought to bring clarity of mind and calmness – not to mention being useful as a preventative against drunkenness! Also good for those who are over stressed – and that’s basically everybody these days, right? The stone measures 9mm x 7mm, and the whole thing measures 1-7/16” x 11/16”. North, south, east and west there are pearl-set trefoils – thus the Gothic feel – pl...

These lovely earrings have nice long dangles – the entire earring measures 1-3/4 long, and the dangle is 1-5/16”. They are just under 1/2” at the widest point. They have a charming bird and flower motif. They were sold to me as 18k, but they are unmarked and I got odd test results. This could be due to their country of origin. I have been told that earrings like this pair were made during the Victorian era in Portugal and Spain, and that they are still being made in those countries today...

Here is an unusual sterling silver and enamel pendant, which comes out of the Arts & Crafts movement, spearheaded by John Ruskin and William Morris, et al. The enamel colors are associated with the women’s suffrage movement in the UK: green (Give), white (Women the), and (Vote) violet – or at least, that’s the story! The free-standing wire work (so interesting!) interlaces around the body of the piece, and holds the oval of mother of pearl in place. Another unusual aspect is the use of bro...

Here is a lovely pair of white gold-fronted double cuff links – they could have been worn by Gatsby himself! Each end is marked BELAIS 14k W.G. FRONT, and is a rectangle measuring 5/8 x ½”, with rigid connectors, hinged at one end. There is space for a monogram, should you wish it. They weigh a total of 5g. Belais Brothers were amongst the first to develop a formula for white gold (patented in 1917). Many think they were the premier workers in white gold, and their work is highly collectib...

Here is a shield-shaped sorority pin (9/16 x ½”), with 16 tiny seed pearls set around the perimeter, and 3 colored stones. The 2 upper stones are emerald green, the bottom one is sapphire blue. They are too tiny to identify with certainty. The shield is crossed by a band of white enamel bisecting a background of black enamel. On the band are the Greek letters Kappa Phi, and in gold on one side is a candle stick and on the other is a flower. On the back it is engraved with what looks like a s...
