| This charming brooch is very pretty and wearable. Plique a jour jewels are very hard to come by these days – as you may know, they are somewhat fragile, rare, and I believe that many of them are now in private collections. This lovely maple leaf pin seems to be missing one leaf. The space has been filled with a drop made of green agate. Along the main vein of each leaf and the stem are paste accent stones, and it is centered by a faux pearl. The plique itself is in good shape, with only a few hairline cracks - normal in all but the very best plique. The back is marked “STERLS”, presumably for sterling silver, for which it tests positive. Despite the missing leaf, this is still a lovely piece. It could use a light cleaning. It measures 1-1/8 x 1-1/8". Circa 1900.
