| This ring is classic and stunning – when worn, the liveliness of the stones is riveting! Demantoids from the original mines in the Ural Mountains of Russia that are this big are very, very rare. This one is slightly oval, has the diagnostic horsetail inclusions, and is of an older cut. Some of the facets are a little abraded, but its beauty is still remarkable, especially since we’ve just had the table (the top, flat, facet) re-polished. The appraisal states that the estimated total weight is 1 carat, but it will be slightly less after being re-polished. It is surrounded by approximately 1 ct. of sparkly diamonds which are in excellent condition and quite decent clarity. The setting measures ˝” x ˝”, and the ring is a size 5-1/4. It weighs 3.3g. The setting is of 18k yellow gold, and the diamonds are set in platinum. We’re not sure of the age of the setting, but we believe it was made later to accommodate the older demantoid.
