Here is a hard-to-find Billiken stick pin! Billiken was patented in 1908 by Florence Pretz, in Kansas City, MO. She designated him “the god of things as they ought to be” – what a fantastic conceit! Paye & Baker, of Attleboro, MA were given exclusive rights to make Billikens in silver and gold (see “Warman’s Jewelry, 3rd ed, by Christie Romero. Every time I saw Christie she was wearing a gold Billiken necklace). He measures 9/16 x 3/8 x 2-1/4" long, and weighs 1.2g. On the back he is marked Sterling, with a stamped outline of Billiken, and around it the words TRADE MARK BILLIKEN. There is also a slightly blurry mark for Paye & Baker. It has a patina consistent with its age, and the pin is slightly bent. Circa 1910-1915. Please read this description and look at the photos very carefully, as we are not responsible for buyer remorse. Thanks! Shipping, handling & insurance free within the USA.
