This Victorian-style ring is very nicely done. The elaborate gothic prongs set off the large iolite (approx. 2 ct.), and there are 4 small single cut accent diamonds. The setting measures 7/8” north to south, and 3/4” east to west. Approximately size 8-1/2. It is marked 14k, the setting is red gold and the shank is yellow gold. The stones are in excellent condition, and of a modern cut. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! Shipping, handling & insurance within the USA included. Iolite is a fascinating stone. It was thought that it leads to inner knowledge and protects the wearer from disease. It was used in acrostic jewelry in the 18th c. to help spell out “faith.” It has strong pleochroism: the stone’s color changes depending on the viewing angle. As you can see in the photos, from some angles it shows looks blue, from others, purple. From a 3rd angle it would show up as a sort of yellow, but because of the setting this color isn’t visible.
