This striking brooch features flowers – probably poppies – with curved flowing lines, mounted on a mother-of-pearl ova, is so pretty! Poppies have symbolized sleep (hello, Dorothy!), rest, and eternal life. The flower is silver plate, and is worn on the high places (we find that those bits actually serve as highlights). The mother of pearl is convex. It measures 1-3/4” x 1-3/8”. The pin assembly is mounted on a base metal plaque, and is of the old style. It rattles a little, but is firmly in place. We believe this is a fairly early piece, but are not sure just how early, so we’ll call it mid-Victorian. In good condition. The photos are part of the description; please examine them carefully. Thanks! Shipping, handling & insurance within the USA included.
