| This lovely piece is from the early 1800s, when cannetille work was the vogue – very fine gold wires twisted into thin ropes and then formed into rosettes and whatnot. The amethyst has a lovely delicate color, and weighs approximately 2.5 carats. The bale is decorated very prettily. The whole lavalier, including the bale, measures 1-1/2 x 9/16”. The 16" chain is an older type, but probably not original to the piece, and is gold fill. Two of the seed pearls are missing, and while it’s really not noticeable, they would be easy to replace. The amethyst’s facet junctions are somewhat worn, but considering its age, the whole thing is in fantastic condition. | ||
