| This romantic portrait in silver, of a wind-swept person in a cloak and hood, is very detailed and just lovely. I tend to think it’s a boy, as the hair seems to be quite short under the hood. The hood itself almost looks more like a cap made from a flower, like those Victorian fairies wore in the paintings in children’s books. It measures 1-1/8” wide, is hollow, and is marked “STERLING TOP, GERMAN SILVER BACK”. The back is a little bit tarnished, and the German silver has worn off at the bottom edge (see photo). The front is in very good shape. Circa 1900. | ||
