| This is one of those superb pins created by the French, who really knew how to do it! The front consists of 3 flowers in various stages of maturity, the most open one hosting a single cut diamond (estimated 4 points of a carat), as well as several leaves. Flowers and leaves have a sculptural quality and have been carved with fine detail The enameling was very well done, with lots of delicate shading. The back continues the design, with those same flowers and leaves chased into the gold. Amazing workmanship and attention to detail! The pin assembly and C-catch are original and in good working order. The back has the French eagle hallmark for 18k gold, but I couldn’t find a maker’s mark. It measures just over 1”. Condition: very good to excellent, especially for its age. The enamel is very slightly chipped in two places; the diamond has a chip which I can’t see without magnification. Circa 1900. | ||
