| This exquisite sheet has a highly embellished 25" turndown ! Drawnwork embroidery and satin(silk?) applique cover the width and 25" down each side. The center stylized fleur de lis motif is formed of padded dots and measures 15" across.Then it is filled with a satin rose,leaves and tendrils heavily padded embroidery. This motif is repeated in each corner of the turndown. There is a continuous edge of elaborate satin applique, drawnwork and mosaic work. Just too incredible to describe! It is a sturdy French cotton finely woven. This sheet was almost brown with age stains and never seems to have been used.It's now white as snow ,except for a few small spots that I missed, but they don't detract and should disappear with washing over time. I first believed this was machine worked by hand ,but I'm beginning to find signs of hand work ,very professional.circa 1910.Quite an addition for your bed and linen collection! 90"w x106"l should fit a queen or king depending how much hangdown you prefer. Or it would be elegant as a bed cover. Purchased in Belgium. Freshly laundered and ironed. | ||
