| I just love the design of this antique wall sconce ,even though some unknowing soul painted over it's original painting with a black color. There are traces of the original paint,green and red and perhaps an area of gilt showing in areas. The base is a branch of acanthus leaf stemming from a fleur de lis inverted,measuring 8.5" , it's approx. 13" wide,and projects approx. 7" out. The arms seem to have the original large wooden candle socket covers. It needs to be rewired for the U.S.,or used as the French do with candles! The design is so handsome, I still haven't decided if I would want to keep it as is or repaint it....I'm beginning to grow attached to it as is if it had never been any other way..Circa1910.
