| I've seen photos and descriptions,but never have found this style of cover before. Depending on which book, or authority, their history varies. Some say this is the American version of older blanket cover (blankets were considered most valuable and were protected by different forms of covers.) This very sturdy home spun cover seems to have never been used...I haven't discovered any damage,and it laundered beautifully,just 2 or 3 soaks and extra rinsing to get the storage stains out. It is of a sturdy white homespun cotton ,joined with 3 "antique seams" ,used to join fabric. It has a geometric design of bobbin lace insertion,around the center diamond shaped opening(where I've tucked in a pink damask napkin to show the effect). There are hand stitched button holes on the back side of each corner,where it could be attached to buttons placed at each corner of the duvet or blanket,so it stays in place It measures 78" X 60" . I love that you can change the look of your bed with a different blanket or duvet tucked inside! | ||
