| This large (76"x 130")work of art is hard to describe! It might have been intended for bed or table, and I would use it for both! Last night, I dreamed about it being used for a wedding feast and then for the bride and grooms bed! And it may well be a trousseau piece. It is covered with embroidered eyelet,or broderie anglaise, heavily padded satin stitchembroidery, 5 different bobbin laces, hand knotted and needle woven lacis.Then there's the bobbin lace surrounded needle lace filled medallions! The cental one measures 21",a large urn flanked bu winged cherubs,roses and foliage. There are four 10" of winged cherubs with 3 birds, and two 5" with center rose and lily like fluer de lis.The lacis on 2 sides measure 9" and the other 2 sides have 1" bobbin lace. Most of the lace is hand made, I'm not positive about the needle lace as it is very tight and tiny stitches. I'll be studying this in depth and updating my description. I consider the condition excellent, even though there are small areas where the lace has come unattached and can easily be repaired. It had been laundered when I purchased it and I'm selling it as found. A heavenly work of art to make you smile every day! Imagine trying to have this made today! | ||
