| Rare homespun linen and hemp "country" towels of this quality are so rarely found. They usually were worn out! Amazingly, this one must have never been used...it still has the basting threads in the hem! It's very heavy unbleached with the natural discoloration and slubs so desirable in an authentic "country" piece! The charming, heavily padded monogram is not professional but well practiced,( as well as the hand drawn and wrapped border). There is 2 " of lace followed by 5" of double cross tied fringe. OK, It's one of my favorite pieces ever! Laundered and pressed, it measures 25" X 46".Mid 1800's. | ||
