Chinese late Qing to Republic period guanpixiang table-top chest with a mansard-style hinged top that lifts to expose a single shallow tray above a pair of doors opening to five drawers with metal pulls all upon an attached base. A circular lockplate with ruyi-form clasp is on the front. Two side carrying handles. Chinese Qing dynasty rectangular form hardwood stand with four inward curving legs resting upon small balls. The stand is carved on the curved apron with vines and lingzhi fungus. Top: 17” long (about 18” at apron) x top: 10” wide (about 11 1/4" at apron) x 7” high. Weighs 6 lbs. 19th century. The stand was more recently refinished and is in very good overall condition. A few of the balls twist a bit but are secure. From a Sun City West, Arizona collection.

Chinese Republic period shoushan (soapstone) mountain carved with trees, temples, old sages, Budai, flying birds, and an elephant all stretching along the path to the top. Custom wood stand. 9” high (10 1/2" on the stand) x about 7” wide x 2” deep. Early 20th century. Very good overall condition with some scratches in the stone and typical wear evident. Chinese Qing dynasty to early Republic period naturalistic form wood brush pot with a hollow circular top for holding brushes. Carved from a single piece of wood, the recessed base is not a separate plug. Late 19th to early 20th century. 7 3/4” high x about 8” diameter at the base and 4” diameter at the outer edge of the top; interior of the brush holder: 3 3/4" deep x about 2 1/4" diameter; weighs 4 lb. 3 7/8 oz. Chinese late Qing dynasty square form wood table dressing chest or scholar’s box with attractive pronounced wood grain. The front panel is decorated with a butterfly or bat form metal lockplate. It lifts off to reveal seven drawers with metal double-fish drawer pulls. The top has two bronze handles set against six floral mounts. Late 19th to early 20th century. 9 3/8” square.
