| Japanese limited edition sosaku hanga “kappa-ban” (stencil print) of a woman playing a shamisen titled “Tsumabiki” (Strumming) by Yoshitoshi Mori (1898-1992). The print is pencil-signed “Y. Mori,” dated ’78, and numbered 47/50. The artist’s red seal is above the signature. The known paper size is about 10 1/4”V x 13 3/4”H. The framed size is 14 ¾”V x 18 ½”H. The print is nicely framed in the original Kato Gallery frame and appears to be in very good overall condition. The image is illustrated as plate 383 and titled "Nail-Playing" in a catalogue published by the artist in 1985 titled “Mori Yoshitoshi Kappa-ban” which features prints dated between 1977-1985. This print was purchased in Japan at the Kato Gallery and is from a Scottsdale, Arizona collection. | |||||||
