Late Qing dynasty Guangxu period square form porcelain pillow decorated in underglaze blue on a white ground with small scattered roundels holding a variety of objects, geometric patterns, scenes and floral motifs. Each end has a large circle at the center with five pierced vent holes and four bats at the corners. 6”L x 4 7/8”W x 3 1/8”D. Circa 1900. Very good overall condition with two old browned hairline cracks or production flaws. There are characteristic spur marks and kiln irregularities on one end. This pillow is from the private collection of a former American diplomat to Guangzhou and Beijing from 1983-1987.
