1st edition Japanese shin hanga woodblock print depicting a family of chickens in a bamboo forest with a faintly visible lake in the background titled "Bamboo Wood" by Hiroshi Yoshida (1876-1950) dated Showa 14 (1939). The artist's "jizure" (self-printed) seal is in the upper left margin. The print is brush signed at the lower right corner of the image and pencil-signed in the lower right margin. Illustrated in "The Complete Woodblock Prints of Yoshida Hiroshi," Abe Publications, color plate #229. The paper size is just over 10 5/8"V x 16"H. Very good overall condition with full margins. The back is faintly toned. The print is lightly faded as indicated by a slight color difference at the bottom of the image where the prior mat had been. There are three areas of tape residue on the back at the top and side margin edges. This print has been framed with UV glass and archival matting in a cherry wood finish frame.
