Chinese Ming dynasty guan form porcelain jar decorated around the circumference in underglaze blue with a pattern of four stylized flowers separated by scrolling foliage set against a white background with a faint celadon-gray hue. The glaze covers the interior and base. The unglazed foot rim has burnt orange. A luting line is visible at the mid-section and can be seen and felt in the interior. Measures 4 ½” high by about 4 ½” diameter. Circa 16th /17th century. There are tiny glaze frits along the mouth rim. These are from the original production as evidenced by the fact that they have burnt orange at the edges of the glaze. There is a faint old browned hairline extending from the mouth down to the upper shoulder which also appears to be from the original production. From the private collection of a former American resident in Guangzhou and Beijing from 1983-1987.
