Old Chinese Yixing Pottery Teapot Incised Calligraphy Inscriptions
Old Chinese Yixing pottery teapot engraved on both sides with long calligraphic inscriptions. The handle, pouring spout, and lid handle are all in the form of bamboo. A three-character impressed seal is on the underside of the lid (see enlargement). The interior pouring hole has 7 small holes which act as a strainer. Dates from the Cultural Revolution period (circa 1960's to 1970's). Measures about 7 1/2" in length from the handle to the spout and 3 1/2" high to the top of the lid. Very good overall condition. The actual piece is slightly darker in color than the images. This teapot is from the private collection of American expatriates who lived in Hong Kong in the 1970s and 1980s.
