Japanese Edo period woodblock print by Kunisada, also known as Toyokuni III (1786-1865), titled “Dandelion of the Mountain Road” depicting the kabuki actor Onoe Kikujirō II in the role of Shizuka Gozen, a Heian period court dancer and mistress of Minamoto no Yoshitsune. The cartouche at the upper right holds the series title "Tôsei mitate sanjûroku kasen" (Popular Matches for Thirty-six Selected Flowers) and the image title. The signature "Toyokuni, age 78" appears within a red cartouche bordered with yellow snow. The seal of the publisher Hiranoya Shinzo and the censor seal for 1863 are also located at the lower left edge of the print. The print is not backed and the baren markings are clearly visible on the reverse. There is slight fading evident. Framed with archival matting.
