Chinese Qing dynasty Qianlong period geyao type bowl covered overall with a fine crackle glaze on a creamy white ground. The foot rim on the high, straight foot is unglazed and shows traces of an applied brown wash. The recessed base is glazed and the glaze extends part way up the inner side of the foot rim. 9 3/8” diameter x 3 3/8” high. 18th century. Very good overall condition with no chips or cracks. There are burial encrustations in the interior and there is a small area where a browned substance resembling old adhesive is adhering to the outside wall (see enlargement 12). This bowl is from the private collection of a former American diplomat to Guangzhou and Beijing from 1983-1987.
