| Chinese Qing Guangxu period square form paktong traveling scholar's ink box with rounded corners featuring a central shou (longevity) character flanked by a pair of bats, symbols of joy and happiness. 19th century. Measures 1 7/8” x 1 5/8” x 7/8.” Very good overall condition with wear consistent with its age and use. A portion of the hinge is not attached but is easily repairable (see enlargement 8). This piece is from the private collection of American expatriates who lived in Hong Kong in the 1970s and 1980s. | |||||||||||
