Chinese late Qing dynasty cinnabar lacquer domed circular form scholar's seal paste box or incense box nicely carved on both sides with a pattern of dense leafy plum blossoms. The rims are metal and the interior appears to be a brownish-black lacquer coating over a thin metal substrate. 2 5/8" diameter x 1 3/8" high. Late 19th to early 20th century. Very good overall condition with some wear and losses to the lacquer in the interior evident. This piece is from a Tucson, AZ collection.
