Chinese late Qing dynasty Guangxu period compressed globular form porcelain lidded ginger jar decorated around the circumference in dense highly iridescent famille rose enamels with a continuous scene featuring nine Buddhist lion dogs floating among auspicious Buddhist symbols and clouds all set against a yellow background. The lid is decorated with white clouds and red flames. The interior and base are both glazed white. The low rounded foot rim is unglazed and has a small amount of kiln grit adhering. The base bears a square hand-painted overglaze red zhuanshu six-character apocryphal Qianlong seal. Circa 1900. 8 ¾” diameter x 6 ½” high to the tip of the finial. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The lid fits slightly loosely and there are scratches in the Qianlong seal. This jar is from a Phoenix, Arizona collection.
