Chinese Qing dynasty Qianlong period blue and white porcelain plaque decorated in varying shades of blue with willow trees in a mountainous landscape scene. It provides an excellent example of traditional Chinese painting techniques. The surface of the plaque has a slight overall orange peel texture. The plaque is set in a wood frame which has a loss to the wood strip at the bottom. It appears to be a fragment from a larger plaque or was previously inset into a screen. 18th century. Frame 10 ¼” x 7 5/8.” The tile probably measures about 8 ½” x 5 ¾” (visible tile size: 8 ¼” x 5 3/8”). From the private collection of a former American expatriot to Guangzhou and Beijing from 1983-1987.
