Contemporary Chinese scrolled ink and color on paper painting depicting flowering plum (prunus) blossoms. The painting is inscribed in black sumi ink along the right side and signed “Sun Yu” with two red seals. A third red seal is at the lower edge of the painting. The inscription includes the Chinese cycle date for 1973 and translates roughly as "red plum in early spring at the bank of the River Li, Guilin." Traditional white silk scroll mounting. Scroll: 63 1/2”V x 22 3/8”H (painting: 26 ½”V x 17 7/8”H). Very good overall condition with minor soiling to the mounting and a small amount of buckling in the painting.
