Japanese limited edition woodblock print by French artist Paul Jacoulet (1902-1960) titled "Sunset in Menado, Celebres" (Coucher de Soleil a Menado. Celebres) published December 26, 1938. Executed in a soft palette, the print depicts a nude male in a subservient position to the female standing over him. The print is pencil-signed and bears the red jar seal at the lower left section of the image. The seals of the carver and printer (Maeda/Honda) are at the lower right margin corner. A red seal verso holds an edition number of 283/350 (second printing). The 'PJ' watermark is at the lower left margin. The title is at the right side of the bottom margin. Image size: 15 3/8”V x 11 7/8”H (frame size: 23”V x 19”H). Very good overall condition with full margins. Framed with 100% archival materials and UV glass.
