Chinese Qing Guangxu White Slip on Blue Ground Porcelain Ginger Jar
SOLD
Chinese late Qing dynasty Guangxu period porcelain lidded ginger jar decorated with four main clusters of leafy flowers in white slip against a pale cobalt blue ground. The interior and base are glazed white with a faint blue gray tint. The foot rim is unglazed. Late 19th to early 20th century. 8 ½” diameter x 8 ½” high. Very good overall condition. There is a small chip to the unglazed mouth which is not visible when the lid is in place. An invisible professional repair was done to a tiny glaze loss on the lid. There are faint old scratches in the glaze consistent with its age and use. From the private collection of a former American expatriot to Guangzhou and Beijing from 1983-1987.
