Chinese Republic period lidded tureen densely decorated on the exterior in colorful famille rose enamels with butterflies in flight among melons and leafy vines set against a white porcelain ground. Apocryphal 6-character orange-red Qianlong reign mark to the white base. Measures about 10 1/2" diameter (13" including handles) x 6 1/2" high to the top of the lid handle. Early 20th century. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Minor rubbing of the overglaze enamels. From a Phoenix, Arizona collection. An old price tag marked $285 is under the lid.
