Japanese Meiji Period (19th century) Imari porcelain mukozuke bowl used for serving appetizers and condiments. Decorated in the traditional Imari palette with four cartouches featuring bamboo under clouds. The cartouches laternate with red circular floral forms set against a geometric background. There are gilt highlights throughout and on the rim. Underglaze blue floral and diaper patterns decorate the base, the squared flared foliate rim, and the interior bottom. Measures 4 1/4" at widest diameter of rim x 2 1/2"H. Very good overall condition with a few small production imperfections. From an old Tucson, Arizona estate.
