One features a landscape scene, the second has white birds executed in moriage flying above pines, and the third contains two nobles. The vignettes are set against a cloud patterned background with gilt highlights. The back is decorated around the circumference with a pine and cherry blossom motif. It is marked in kanji in overglaze rust-red "Kutani Doi made." Dates from the late Meiji to early Taisho period (circa 1900 - 1915). It measures 9 1/8" diameter by 1 5/8"H. The plate is in very good overall condition with no chips or cracks. There is some rubbing to the black overglaze pigment (see enlargement 4).
