Japanese "aka-e" (red painted) Kutani porcelain vase decorated in polychrome enamels, the characteristic orange-red, and gilt highlights with a continuous scene of beauties and girls strolling under blossoming trees by a lake in a park. The central scene is bordered in geometric bands with gilt highlights. The trees are accented with an abundance of tiny moriage white dots. 11 3/4"H. Late 19th century. Base marked "Kutani made" in orange-red. Very good overall condition with one old hairline crack to the interior neck (see enlargement 7). Green felt has been applied to the base.
