Pair of Chinese Qing Dynasty Elm Wood Armchairs

Matching pair of very heavy and solidly constructed Chinese late 19th century elm wood armchairs. 38 3/4"H (to top of seat back) x 25"W x 18 3/4"D. Very good and sturdy overall condition with some minor shrinkage evident at the seat. It appears that the chairs might originally have had a dark stain which has been stripped. One seat has an old circular stain (see enlargement 6). From the private collection of American expatriates who lived in Hong Kong in the 1970s and 1980s.
