Set
Japanese heavily potted Meiji “aka-e”(red) Kutani style export porcelain 3-piece tea set consisting of a covered teapot, creamer, and covered sugar vessel decorated in overglaze rust-red and polychrome enamels with gilt highlights. An alternating central cartouche on both sides of each piece includes figural motifs engaged in scholarly activities in outdoor settings. The base holds a red four-character “Kobe Kita made” mark which dates the set to the late Meiji/early Taisho periods (1900-1915). The teapot stands 7”H, the sugar vessel 5"H, and the creamer 4 3/8"H. Very good overall condition with only minor wear to the enamels.
