Chinese Republic Dark Zisha Yixing Pottery Teapot
Large Chinese dark purple-black Yixing pottery teapot with metal carrying handles. The lid is marked with "fu" (good fortune) and "kang" (good health) symbols. A square seal is on the center of the base and there is a tiny seal by the handles (see enlargements 9 & 10). The interior pouring spout has seven small holes which act as a strainer. This teapot measures about 8" in length from the handle to the spout and 6" high. Estimated to date from the early 20th century. It is in very good overall condition with a nice aged patina from years of use. This piece is from the private collection of American expatriates who lived in Hong Kong in the 1970s and 1980s.
