Southeast China Swatow floral decorated Jar
Jar, Provenance: (Southeast) China, Swatow. Dating: The end of the 16th century / first half 17th century. Jar on a flat, unglazed, base decorated in underglaze blue. On the waist decorated with two medallions containing a flower separated by a concentric waves pattern. The shoulder is decorated with a band of lotus leaves and on the lip rim a single circle. Dimensions: Height: 60 mm (2.36 inch), Diameter: 64 mm (2,52 inch), Diameter of footring: 36 mm (1.42 inch), Diameter of mouth: 25 mm (0.98 inch). Condition: A glaze chip to the rim, the glaze did not catch on to the body during the firing process. Reference; B. Harrisson, Swatow in het Princessehof, Leeuwarden 1979, pp. 82-83, figure 164
