Dish. Provenance: China. Dating: Qianlong period (1736-1795). Dish on a footring with a glazed base, Imari decorated in underglaze blue with iron-red and gold. In the centre a decoration of a flowering bamboo and chrysanthemum plant growing from pierced rockwork with two sitting birds and a flying butterfly. On the interior rim four large panels, two with a bird sitting on a flowering prunus tree and two panels with a bird sitting on a flowering peony, the four smaller panels are filled with a red and blue trellis pattern. The rim is glazed dark brown, the reverse is undecorated.
Dimensions: Height: 40 mm (1.58 inch), Diameter: 225 mm (8.86 inch), Diameter of footring: 120 mm (4.72 inch). Condition: One small firing flaw to the rim, five tiny fleabites to the reverse rim and a missing piece of glaze on the interior wall at 7 o’clock.
