Dish. Provenance: Japan. Dating: Early 18th century. Dish on a footring with a glazed base and a everted lip. Imari decorated in underglaze blue, iron-red and gold. On the base four spur-marks.
In the centre in a double circle a decoration of a figure standing on a river-bank near houses and trees. On the horizon a mountain/river landscape with houses, trees and clouds. Round the centre decoration a band in underglaze blue divided by three blank panels all decorated with flowering scrolls. The underglaze blue rim is decorated with chrysanthemums divided by three panels alternately decorated with flowering peony, chrysanthemum and Buddha's Hand citron. The exterior wall is decorated with three wide spread prunus blossom sprays. Dimensions: Height: 27 mm (1.06 inch), Diameter: 218 mm (8.58 inch), Diameter of footring: 129 mm (5.08 inch). Condition : Two firing flaws to the rim.
