Teapot. Provenance: Japan. Dating: Edo middle period (1704-1800), 1st quarter 18th century. A globular pear-shaped teapot with fluted body and a glazed base on a footring. Curved handle and a straight spout. Ribbed cover and knob. Imari decorated in underglaze blue, iron-red and gold. Decorated on both sides and on the cover with flowering peony branches, On the handle a single flowering stem and on the spout two flowering stems. Dimensions: Height: 102 mm (4.02 inch), Diameter ear to spout: 150 mm (5.91 inch), Diameter of footring: 55 mm (2.17 inch). Condition: A shallow, tiny and very light rough spot to the top of the spout and a firing flaw to the underside of the finial.
