Dish. Provenance: Japan. Dating: Late 17th early 18th century. Dish on a footring with a glazed base and a spreading flat rim, Imari decorated in underglaze blue, iron-red and gold. In the centre decorated with a flower basket on a veranda filled with peonies. The underglaze blue rim is decorated with peonies and chrysanthemums divided by three panels decorated with two sitting birds. The exterior wall is decorated with three wide spread prunus blossom sprays. On the base four spur-marks in a Y-pattern. Dimensions: Height: 42 mm (1.65 inch), Diameter: 268 mm (10.55 inch), Diameter of footring: 140 mm (5.51 inch). Condition: A small firing flaw to the rim otherwise perfect.
