Two saucers. Provenance: Japan. Dating: Late 17th early 18th century. Two saucers on a footring with a glazed base and an everted lip, decorated in overglaze iron-red and gold. In the centre a decoration of two quails standing on a shore next to and under flowering plants. The reverse is undecorated. Dimensions: Height: 19 mm (0.75 inch), Diameter: 110 mm (4.33 inch) Diameter of footring: 50 mm (1.97 inch). Condition saucer 2010251: A 5 mm (0.20 inch) frit to the rim and a few chips to the inner footring. Condition saucer 2010252: A 15 mm (0.59 inch) glaze hairline to the exterior wall.
