Baluster vase with cover. Provenance: Japan. Dating: 18th century, 1700-1720. A small baluster vase with cover with a glazed base. Imari decorated in underglaze blue, iron-red and gold.
Round the foot decorated with a continuous scroll of flowering stems, on the body, shoulder three groups of flowering chrysanthemum, peony and cherry plants, The domed cover is also similar decorated with three groups of flowering chrysanthemum, peony and cherry plants and has a gold pointed knob in the form of a chrysanthemum.
