Tea caddy. Provenance: China. Dating: Late Kangxi period (1662-1722) or early Yongzheng (1723-1735) c.1700-1730. Tea caddy of rectangular form with canted corners on a flat unglazed base. Imari decorated in iron-red, gold and underglaze blue. Fitted with a replaced mahogany cover. On all sides and the flat shoulders decorated with various flowering plants. Round the foot, shoulder and neck a meander pattern border. Dimensions: Height (including the cover): 114 mm (4.48 inch), Wide: 90 mm (3.54 inch), Deep: 56 mm (2.20 inch), Diameter of mouth: 25 mm (0.98 inch). Condition: Two chips and fritting on various spots round the shoulder rim.
