Still Life by William Harnden (1920-1983)

William Harnden Oil on board. Orientalist still life depicting a yellow vase of pink gladiolus, on a red tablecloth against a turquoise background. Gilt frame. Signed “Harnden” to obverse. Rectangular, 75 cms. X 60 cms. (29 1/1 inches X 24 inches. This is a beautiful example of Harden's work. The colours are vibrant with bold brushwork. Excellent condition. William Harnden was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on May 14, 1920.  He studied painting for 5 years at the Art Students League in NYC under Frank DuMond, Robert Ward Johnson, John Housanes, and Will Barnet. Harnden exhibited at the National Academy of Design in New York; the Knickerbocker Artists, New York; Art USA in 1959; the American Artist Professional League in New York; National Arts Club, New York; New Jersey Society of Sculptors and Painters; the Kennedy Gallery, New York; Bertuch Galleries; and Art Exchange, New York. Harnden won 1st prize First Prize from the American Artist Professional League in 1959. He died in 1983. We are certain you will love this painting for your holiday gift giving.
